Micro-Trains 983 02 280 N 57′ Converted TOFC Flatcars (2-Pack) with Trailers, Southern Pacific

Description

Starting in 1953 Southern Pacific ® started Trailer-On-Flat-Car or TOFC service. This service was also know as Piggyback as trailers were placed onto flatcars and transported along rails. These flatcars were originally flat deck cars but were later modified in order to be used as TOFC cars. The 40ft trailers featured as the load on these cars entered into service in the 1960’s.
