The Wisconsin is the fourth ship of the Iowa class battleships. Construction began in January 1941, the ship was launched in December 1943, and commissioned in April 1944.
She fought in the Pacific War, the Korean War, and the Gulf War while undergoing repeated modernizations and refits, and was awarded five battle stars for her service in World War II and one for her service in the Korean War.
She was decommissioned in September 1991 and is now preserved as a memorial ship at the National Maritime Center in Norfolk, Virginia.
